I am looking for George Washington NEAL b. 1811/1813 in Tn. The first documentation for Izard Co., Ar. is 1848. He is listed as County Coroner for Izard Co. for 1848-1850 in Karr Shannon's "A HISTORY OF IZARD COUNTY" George Washington NEAL was married to Nancy CHATMAN and there were 14 children. I would like to know their death dates and where they are buried. I am also researching these names in Izard Co., Ar. Jackson Co. - I am looking for descendants of WILLIAM LEE REID, who resided in Izard Co., Ar. He had several children and was married three times. Served in the Confederate army. Several of his children settled Jackson Co., Those known to have lived in Jackson Co. are ZACHARIAH BOOTH REID (1867-1924), my great- grandfather; THOMAS C. REID, lived in Beedeville; LUCINDA REID LAWHORN, lived in Bird Twp.; WILLIAM P. REID, Bird Twp.; GEORGE C. REID, 1873-1955; SOPHRIA L. REID SODEN. "Z.B." Reid, also called Bud Reid, owned a music store in Newport and was a circuit rider preacher and also a Mason. Other surnames include MCMINN, MELVILLE, NELDON, SIMMONS, AND MAY. Searching for the William SOUTHARD family found in Izard Co, AR. 1870 census. Sons, John and Newton are found next door to him. They were in the Northfork area. LLOYD/LOYD
Am searching for any information on Freethias W. LLOYD/LOYD, wife Mary NEAL LLOYD, and son WILLIAM (T.?) LLOYD/LOYD. They settled in Izard County c. 1861 and were farmers, probably at Rocky Bayou township. Family history is that William was killed by jayhawkers/bushwhackers during the Civil War, but his last child (William Newton) was born 1 Sep 1866. Neither he nor his wife Martha Ann (Annie) were alive at the time of the 1870 census. Freethias died sometime between 1870 and 1880. If anyone has information on Josie Clack Long who was married to Frank Long and lived in Calico Rock and/or Fourty Four, Izard County, Arkansas please contact me. They had two sons named Leroy Arlie. Josie Clack was the half sister of my grandfather and I believe she was born in approximately 1878-79. Her father was L.P. Clack and her mother was Francis Painter. HOUSE, Michael- Born 1834 in Indiana. He was on1880 census in La Crosse Township, Izard Co. Arkansas with his wife Talitha Jane SHIPP and 5 children. We believe he died there as Talithia Jane was on the 1900 census in Eufaula, Oklahoma, died and buried there but no trace of Michael in Oklahoma. Would like any info on the HOUSE family. These are the family names I am researching. M. C. Pilkington (Clunie Monroe) married Rebecca Wilkinson of Anderson, Izard Co., AR. M.C. (aka Monroe) Pilkington was from St. James, Stone County, AR, he was the youngest son of William R. Pilkington and his wife Mary Catherine RAGAN. M. C. was born in Texas Co, MO. M.C. Pilkington and Rebecca Wilkinson daughter's were Nora Pilkington who married Rawley Norris, Rawley was from Newark, Independance Co., AR, Nora was living in Evening Shade, Sharp Co., when they were married on Nov 30., 1922, in Sharp Co. Esther Pilkington, married Claud Ford of Battles, Izard County, AR on Sep 5, 1923. I am looking for any people related to the above folks and those also related to the PILGRIM's who also lived in Izard Co., until just recently. HAYS
IZARD CO CEMETERIES. Have any of the cemeteries in Izard been indexed? I remember being taken 60 yrs. ago to a cemetery (Nob Creek, I think it was) where some of the Hays family is buried. Am I right? Is there such a place? and is there an index? I am looking for ancestors, siblings, and descendants of Fountain L. ( Fountain D.?) Hays, b. abt 1835 in TN, came to Izard probably before 1860. Married Mary E. (Ishmael?) and died in Izard sometime after 1900. Offspring: James Lafayette (my grandfather), Tinie (married James Campbell), Fannie, Mahalia Ann, Henry B., and Roxey (married John Hunt), and possibly 2 others. Thanks for any help. Arkansas I believe the father of Jefferson Davis Dixon is John Dixon, born about 1842 (NC). His mother was Rosalind (Clark) Dixon, born 1842 (TN). BLAKENEY
I am looking for descendants of Tobias BLAKENEY and wife Polly/Mary. Her surname unknown. They lived in Izard County in 1850, with their children, Thomas, John, Elizabeth,Aaron Tobias, Melinda,the younger children-Rhoda Ann, William, and Benjamin Franklin were born at Bonham Texas in Fannin County. Tobias and Polly died there November 1857. Tobias left no will but his estate had to be probated because of the six youngest children. They were Thomas, John, Aaron, Rhoda Ann, William,and Benjamin. WOLF
Would like to find ancestors/descendants of MAJOR ICHABOD O. WOLF of Izard County, Arkansas. He was born 1828 and fought in the Mexican War in Capt. Porter's Company. With six Confederate soldiers he was to have been shot in St. Louis in 1864 over the killing of a Major Wilson. The story goes that five of the doomed men were shot and at the last minute, the Commanding Officer, Rosencrans, received word from Abraham Lincoln that no more men were to be executed. He died in 1903 at the age of 75 years. Submitter: Jean L. Robinson

I am researching the Colemans (my family) and as far back as I can go is my great grandfather, Will (possibly Bill or William) Coleman who was from Izard County. He married an Eliza Jane ?.
