CHURCHILL, COPELAND
Name: Barbara Jean Copeland Aldridge,  aldridge73s@sprintmail.com
3000 Magnolia Lane
Bedford,  TX  76021
Query: CHURCHILL-Looking for info on when and by what route the Churchills came to Izard county. In the 1850 census, there are only two CHURCHILL families: one (Richwoods twp)is the family of Joseph D, 53, and Lucretia, 47, with children John S., 21, James J., 20, Levina, 17, Jane 14, Lucy, 12, Wiliam 10, Dempsey W., 8, Joseph A, 4. The children were born in AR; Joseph was born in New Jersey and Lucretia in VA. Joseph and Lucretia's eldest son, John, appears in the 1860 with his wife Susan J. (b. in IL) and children George and Charity (both 6), Sarah E, 4, and Louiza, 1 in Union twp, Benbrook Mills. This family was not found in the 1870 census. Since John S. Churchill was born in AR in about 1829, this would indicate that Joseph Churchill came from NJ prior to 1829. Louiza (or Luiza) Churchill, John and Susan's youngest, married Marcus Dee Lafayette COPELAND about 1873-77. Would appreciate hearing from anyone with CHURCHILL info that may relate to my kin.   03/11/98

Bellevue,  NE  68123
Query:  Am looking for information on my Great-Grandfather James Barthelmew Hunter who was born in Izard County about 1859 married to a Mary Jane White of Fulton County. I also know nothing of James Barthelmew's family or Mary Jane White's family history. James was a farmer and had several children by Mary White. They were named Maude, Grover Clevland, Lela Mae, Marvin, Myrtle, Fred, and "Albert Lee"(born Oct 27, 1884) who was the father of my father Woodrow Kenneth & his sisters Veo Mae & Bera Marie. I know nothing of my great-grandfather's lineage or his family. My Aunt Bera who now resides in Georgia said that James Barthelmew's family originated from Scotland. She has no family pictures, as they were all lost in a trunk that her father Albert Lee had and was lost upon his death and were retained by his second wife. Any assistance you can provide would be sincerely apprecieated...Thanks from Bob 03/11/98
