CONWAY/HENDERSON/POSTON/THOMPSON/WARNER
My 2 gg grandfather, Jeremiah POSTON, lived in Claiborne Parish,
LA in late 1820's and 1830. He died Jan 1836 in Lafayette County, ARK.
Did he moved or did the boundary line between Louisiana and Arkansas get
moved about this time? He owned a large plantation, over 1000 acres, at
Long Praire. His brother, Richard POSTON, built the first log jail at Chickanenny,
ARK. Where are these places located in Lafayette County? He was a neighbor
and friend of John Sevier CONWAY of Walnut Hill, who became the first governor
of ARK. Also, believed that he worked with CONWAY as a surveyor and died
while thus employed, from injuries. Need proof of this. His widow, Salenah,
remarried in 1837 to Franklin J. WARNER and had two daughters by him. 1840
census they were living in Red River TWP, Lafayette Co, ARK. Where was
Red River TWP? 1850, she was living in LaGrange TWP with married daughter,
Selina, wife of Andrew THOMPSON, schoolmaster. Would like to communicate

indicated that my gggrandfather Edmund William TAYLOR (1827-1898) and his

there were his brother Garland H. TAYLOR and his wife Nancy. A son James

ESPY/PENNY/WILLINGHAM/WRIGHT
Hi...On the 1870 Census for Lafayette County, Arkansas, I found
a Amalia Wright age 12. She was born in Arkansas. I believe this was my
g-grandmother. In 1882 my grandmother was born in ?? County, Arkansas.
Her name was Fannie Penny. She moved sometime to Cass County, Texas and
there she married my grandfather William M. Willingham on Mar 10, 1898.
They stayed in Cass County until about 1905 when they moved to Cleveland
County, Oklahoma. Amalia was married at least two time. Her Husbands were
John Marion Judge Penny and Luther Espy or Espey. She may have also married
a Jordan. Does anyone know anything about this lady? Thanks. Lonnie Morris

ROACH
Per 1860 Census, my ggrandfather, James Henry ROACH and family lived
in LaGrange Township, Lewisville, Lafayette County. His wife at that time,
Margaret A. or E. ROACH, age 30, born in AL, does not reappear in the 1870
census; instead James Henry ROACH's wife then (spouse 2) is Melvina ROACH
and they live in LA. Spouse 1, Margaret ROACH, may have died in Lafayette
County. Would someone advise if there exists a cemetery inventory for Lafayette
County, or what "LaGrange Township" would mean in relation to Lewisville,
so that I could visit cemeteries in the appropriate area for a search?
(I live about 1-2 hrs away in LA.) Thank you in advance.

MORTON
I am reasearching my family and traced them back to Lafayette Co,
AR. the names are as follows. Heartwell Morton bn 1840, AL m. Rhoda Allen
bn 1844, MS. This is my 4th. generation grandfather and i have found them
on the 1860 and the 1870 census's for this county. i am trying to make
a connection to an Alexander Morton (bn 1816, TN) also in this county.
I think this may be Heartwells father but have no way of confirming it.
The dates and all seem to match up as well as their proximity to each other
in the area. James Alexander is the son of Heartwell, so i thought the
name might be a family name passed on down. Would you have any other info
on this family. or could you pass it on to the querie page on the genweb
project. i will summarize below:
1860 census; Beach Township, Rondo post office. dwelling number
611 Alexander Morton bn (bn 1816, Tn) m. Eliza E. (bn 1811, London England)
children listed: Joseph S. 23 yrs old, William D., Mary E., James A., Joseph
S., listed as 16years old, Samuel C., Benjamin ?., Martha E., A. T . (F),
Daniel O..
first 5 children brn in Alabama. all others in mississippi.
1860 Census Red River Township Rondo post office, Dwelling 619 Heartwell
E. Morton (bn 1840, AL ) m. Rhoda(e) Allen bn 1844, MS. Children listed
