GRANT
I am a descendant of James Davis Grant. He had a brother, John Grant, who lived in Maury (later known as Marshall) County, TN. The family moved around 1840, shortly after their father died, to Pontotoc County Mississippi. From there John and his wife, Martha (Mary) moved to Poinsett County, AR. They were first noted in the 1860 Census records in the county in the Mitchel TWP. He may have served in the Civil War as there is a John Grant from Arkansas who served. He does not show up in subsequent Census records. However, his family does show up. Jackson is 21 and married to "Elisa" in the 1870 Census in Scott TWP and his mother, Mary, is listed with the rest of the Jackson's siblings, Malvina (or Levinia), Jane and Sarah. His older brother, David, had moved out by then. I am seeking male children from this lineage who might be willing to participate in a Grant DNA project. Thanks.
