Mrs. Magggie May Cost, 80, of Watson, Ok., died Thursday morning in St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith. She was born on January 16, 1906 at Mountain View.
Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at 2 in the Sulphur Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Doyle Nations and Bro.Buz Lassiter officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Geyer-Quillin Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Billy Lein, Donald Ashcraft, Odell Lawrence, James Lawrence, Charley Umsted, and Jess Umsted.
She was the daughter of the late W. D. Ashcraft and the late Mrs. Delia Burns Ashcraft and was united in marriage to Emmit Cost on April 2, 1924 at Brushey. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1970. She had been a resident of the Zafra and Watson area for the last 43 years and was a member of the Sulphur Springs Missionary Baptist Church at Watson.
Survivors include four sons, Ed Cost, South Gate, Calif., N. L. Cost, Watson, Olka., Audry Cost, Mena; Donald Cost, Mena; three daughters, Mrs. Florine Walls, Port Orchard, Wash., Mrs. Lavina Dodson, Broken Bow, Okla., Mrs. Inola Umsted, Watson, Okla.; two brothers, Elmo Ashcraft, Vandervoort, Jim Ashcraft, Prineville, Oregon; five sisters, Mrs. Edna Lawrence, Shady, Mrs. Lidia Rials, Tulsa, Okla., Mrs. Sarah Euing, Dilly, Tex., Mrs. Imogene Hale, Seguin, Tex., Mrs. Mildred Lein, Shady; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Velma A. Cummings, of Whitesboro, Okla., died July 1, in Whitesboro.
She is survived by her husband, A.V. Cummings; one daughter, Mrs. V.C. Plunkett of Texarkana, Texas; two sons, Glen and Gerald Porter of Watson, Okla.; four step-sons, Robert, Raymond and Leon Cummings of Whitesboro and WWilliam Cummings of Burney, Calif.; and two step-daughters, Mrs. Margie Foster of Burney, Calif., and Mrs. Eula Howard of Great Bend, Ore.
Services were held at the First Baptist Church of Watson. Burail was in the Cecil Cemetery near Vandervoort. Rev. H. D. Warren and Rev. Archie Phillips officiated.
Mrs. Cummings was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Talihina, Okla. She was born Feb. 23, 1902. Contributed by Carmiel Aldred |
| Date Unknown | Gary L. Cunningham, 43, of Smithville, Okla., died Wednesday,Nov. 27, at Mena Medical Center. He was born June 28, 1948, in Mena.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Zafra Church of Christ with Rev. Kent Perkins and Rev. Riley Donica officiating. Interment was in the Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Sanders, James Parker, Gerald Stinson, Kenneth Denton, Jock Owens, and Jerry Self
He was the son of the late Grover Lee Cunningham and Miss Juanita Miller. His father preceded him in death, December 9, 1978. He worked for the Hatfield lumber company and was a member of the Zafra Church of Christ. He had been a resident of Smithville most of his life.
Survivors are mother, Juanita Cunningham, Smithville, Okla.; six brothers, Grover Chester Cunningham, Hatfield, Gaylord Lee Cunningham, Hawaii, Larry Cleveland Cunningham, Hughes Springs, Tex., William Jewell Cunningham, Mena, Greg Allen Cunningham, Smithville, Okla., Roger Cunningham, Tulsa, Okla.; six sisters, Mickey Davis, Mena, Joyce Ross, Mena, Shirley Cogburn, Bethel, Okla., Sandra Kay Johnson, Wickes, Stella Marie Bowen, Watson, Okla., Pamela Louise Kirby, Idabel, Okla.; several nieces and nephews.
